Our Commitment to Equity

As a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in our community, we foster an environment in which everyone, regardless of age, background, or circumstance, is treated with respect and dignity, free from discrimination, bias, or harassment. We celebrate the cultural richness of our community and encourage diverse perspectives in our membership and leadership, and in our philanthropic and business relationships. Through our grantmaking process, membership programs, events, governance, and planning, we strive to:

  • Nurture a sense of belonging and trust
  • Model fairness, integrity, and compassion
  • Accommodate accessibility and other needs
  • Support programs that address socioeconomic inequities
  • Support organizations that engage and uplift marginalized voices
  • Help build a community that gives everyone the opportunity to contribute, develop, and grow

    Our Trust-Based Approach

Impact100 Sonoma believes in a trust-based philanthropic approach to addressing the needs of Sonoma Valley. That means:

    • We respect the time of our applicants. To reduce the burden on them, we have a streamlined application process and limited requirements through the grant lifecycle.

    • We strive to be fair and unbiased in our deliberation process and responsive to feedback from our applicants and member donors.

    • We broadly define what we will fund, and the term of our grants allows for flexibility.

    • We allow grantees to adapt their spending to changing circumstances as long as they inform us of their plans and obtain prior approval.

    • We offer support “beyond the check” by promoting grant recipients via our Community Service Hub online volunteer resource and our Grants at Work profile series.

Sonoma Valley and the Charitable Sector that Serves Us

2017 report from the Sonoma Valley Fund:

      Our Values

      COMMUNITY

We believe in community, knowing that we’re stronger when we work together. Our philanthropy helps nonprofit organizations serving Sonoma Valley to flourish, creating an environment in which our inhabitants thrive, our natural landscapes are protected, and our unique local character is preserved, supported, and celebrated.

      EQUITY

We believe in and prioritize equity in our organization and philanthropy because all people deserve to be respected and valued. We embrace a participatory grantmaking process, and work to recruit members with a broad range of backgrounds, ideas, and experiences. Similarly, we expect our grant recipients to acknowledge the importance of incorporating equity into their organizational mission, vision, and values.

      RESPONSIBLE STEWARDSHIP

We believe in responsible stewardship of the funds we receive from our member donors. We use 100 percent of their $1,000 grant donations to accomplish our mission through trust-based philanthropy.

      ENGAGEMENT

We believe in encouraging our members to engage in community activities and volunteerism. We offer them multiple opportunities to learn about the goals and needs of nonprofits serving Sonoma Valley, to develop a better understanding of the challenges facing local residents, and to discover ways to create positive change collectively and individually.

      OUR VISION

A just and thriving Sonoma Valley

      OUR MISSION

Empowering women of Sonoma Valley to invest in a more sustainable nonprofit community through collective giving and responsible stewardship
