The Rotary Club of Sonoma Valley will staff a booth at the Friday Morning Farmers Market in Depot Park from 9 a.m. to noon from July 11 through the beginning of September for the purpose of collecting food from Sonoma residents who have harvests beyond their needs.
Residents are invited to bring extra fruit, veggies or canned goods to the booth. All food collected on Fridays will go to the food insecure through FISH and Sonoma Overnight Support, so those who need the food can directly benefit from harvests. Given recent Federal cuts affecting food distribution programs operated by non-governmental organizations, this is a way to directly help others in the community.
There are plenty of tomatoes, figs, zucchini, apples and other food that now can go quickly and directly to those in need. Rotary is also also able to take nonperishable goods.
The Depot Park is located at 270 1st St. West. For information, visit sonomavalleyrotary.org
