Estrellita (Early Childhood Education Hub)
When: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday between 9 AM–12 PM
Where: Hanna Center, 17000 Arnold Dr. (St. Joseph Building #401)
What: Support organizing and cleaning rooms where class materials are stored. Also support with the garden on site.
Food Distribution Volunteers
When: 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month, 8:45 AM–11 AM
Where: El Verano Elementary School, Back Parking Lot (18606 Riverside Dr.)
What: Help distribute food to the community by setting up, preparing food boxes, and loading cars.
Spring 2025 Learning Hour (Homework Help Tutoring)
When: Wednesdays, First session will be January 15th and the program will operate from 1-2pm
Where: El Verano Elementary School, Room 31 (18606 Riverside Dr.)
What: Provide homework help in math and reading for students in grades 3–5.
Word Lab Pilot Program (Spelling Support)
When: Tuesdays, First session will be January 21st and the program will operate from 3-4pm
Where: El Verano Elementary School, Room 31 (18606 Riverside Dr.)
What: Support 3rd graders with extra spelling practice. No prior teaching experience required—materials and guidance provided.
Tax Preparation Volunteer (Free Training Provided)
When: February–April (Hybrid format)
What: Prepare taxes for free once a week during tax season. Volunteers can work from home or at La Luz Center. Training and support will ensure success in this rewarding program.
Training: January 18 (Returning volunteers), January 25 (New volunteers)
ESL
La Luz Center is looking for volunteers to teach ESL and make a positive impact in our community. Flexible teaching times are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays (9-11 AM or 6-8 PM). Can’t commit to both days? Teach once a week or become a sub! Training provided.
